Lightnight (2021)
Found Footage, Short
In this environmentally-focused short, a moth struggles to navigate the sky and dreams of a world without humans. Lightnight explores the dangers that light pollution and urbanization pose to wildlife now that 99% of the United States and Europe can no longer experience “natural night.” With a lyrical, poetic script written by Annie Hodson, Lightnight is an ultimately hopeful piece about the resilience of the natural world.
Lightnight was created for Northern Visions’ Inheritance Festival and was broadcast across Northern Ireland. It went on to screen with Conservation Optimism’s festival at Oxford University Museum of Natural History, where it was voted runner-up for best short film in its category.
